Final Papers

ICT Applications defending information requirements.

Dr Ahmed Kellow, Managing Director
NCR

Abstract

This paper summarises recent work on information requirements of various organisations of the Ethiopian Government, which forms a necessary prelude to organizational restructuring and ICT development. It is argued and demonstrated that information requirements and report outputs are not only the basis for developing, prioritizing and expanding ICT (infrastructure, software and hardware) but also the most cost- effective approach to understanding and streamlining business processes. The paper argues that such an approach is value enhancing by design. Placing in the forefront the values and benefits to be had, enables project prioritization, meaningful appreciation and appraisal of costs. The approach advocated provides a dry run of what can be achieved and offers a much clearer definition of valuable ICT options.
